What Is Memorial Day?

Memorial Day is a Federal Holiday in the United States  which occurs every year on the final Monday of May. It was originally known as Decoration Day - a time to honor the Union and Confederate Soldiers that died during the Civil War. It is now a day to remember all the men and women who died while in military service.

As you go about your holiday weekend celebrating with your family or shopping the sales, don't forget the men and women who have sacrificed so much so that you can have this holiday weekend. The picture above was taken at Arlington National Cemetary. If you ever get to DC, it is an inspiring place of remembrance. Be sure to visit.

Have a safe and happy holiday. Don't drink and drive or text while driving. Have fun, but don't forget what we are really celebrating!
